General Questions:

1. What does "shakedown" mean? Something to do with extortion?

In motorsports, the shakedown is the final trial of a new engine. It's the time when new ideas and designs are pushed to the ultimate limits of endurance. It's intense, it's brutal, and it's designed to cause machines to fail. And what emerges from the shakedown? Only the best of the best.

We have a passion for all things motorized, and we thought the shakedown was a good metaphor for the kind of work we do. It has nothing to do with the other definition. Nor does it have anything to do with the Bob Seger song. Hey, if you want to know more about who we are, click here to read our story.

2. Can I try on or demo your rings before I buy one?

We do have sample rings in select styles that can be sent to preview prior to purchase. Please keep in mind we have a limited number of these rings and might not have one in your specific size.

Our sample rings are intended to give you a solid example of how your finished ring will look. They are not designed to gauge your size or for fitting. For more details about how your ring should fit, visit our Ring Sizing page.

Here's the thing, all of our rings are custom made from the ground up, including yours. We'll work with you from the moment you send in your order to make sure you get exactly what you expect. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you want to know more about getting a sample ring, please contact customer service.

3. I want to make a modest/insane request or comment on my order. What should I do?

Have a special request about a ring or something you need to let us know? Are the voices in your head commanding you to ask for custom modifications to your item? Don't worry, attaching a comment to your order is easy!

When you're checking out, look just below the part of the page where you fill in all your shipping and payment information. You'll see a handy box labeled "Comments." You can fill that area with any text you want.

Questions, comments, demands, the latest draft of your manifesto -- put it all in the "Comments" box and we'll read it and get back to you before processing your order.

Also, you can always contact us directly.

4. I don't know which ring size I should pick. How do I find out?

We tell everybody the same thing: Get your ring size from a professional jeweler. Guessing at your size or trying to measure yourself rarely ends well. In fact, there are a lot of variables (science term!) that can impact your ring size, so be sure to read our Ring Sizing Guide before placing your order. Please note that there is a 20% size exchange fee since a new ring has to be made in most cases and we do not have a large facility with thousands of rings already done up.

If you already have your measurements and just need your size, or if you are ordering from outside the US and Canada, simply refer to our e-z International Ring Size Conversion Chart.

5. But I'm ordering a ring as a surprise gift for someone else. What do I do?

Does the person you're shopping for own other rings that he or she wears? If so, we suggest sneaking into wherever they keep their ring and taking it out for a "little ride" down to your nearest jeweler. They will be able to tell you the exact size.

Feel free to dress in all in black when you steal (we mean borrow) the ring, and be sure to watch for laser trip wires and guard dogs. Yes, we think about museum heists a lot.

6. I don't see my ring size listed! Is there any hope for me?

Fear not, for we can help! Yes, we list our rings in whole and half sizes, but since our items are custom made, we can do many styles in quarter (1/4) sizes, too. We also accept custom requests.

When you order a ring, choose the size that most closely resembles what you need from the list of options. Then, look for the "Comments" box located underneath the shipping and payment area when you checkout. Note exactly what you need in the box, and one of our designers will see what we can do. If there's ever a problem, we'll let you know.

Note: Due to the process used to create them, limited size options are available for our 100% Carbon Fiber Rings. If you have any questions, please contact us.

7. Can I get my ring engraved? How much do you charge for engraving?

You bet your $*&%@#^ ass you can get your ring engraved! Most of our styles include up to 25 characters of engraving on the interior diameter of the band. And we charge nothing for your inscription. Zero. Zilch. Null.

Note: Engraving is unavailable on our 100% Carbon Fiber Rings.

Keep in mind that we'll engrave your ring with the exact text you provide when you order, so make sure everything's entered and spelled correctly.

Shipping Questions:

1. How long does it take to make the rings you sell?

We ain't some kiosk in the mall. Every ring on our site is a custom job that's built from scratch by a master craftsman. Skills that awesome take time, sometimes as long as two or three weeks for our more complex styles.

Is it worth waiting a couple weeks for quality jewelry that will last a lifetime? We think that's a silly question. But if you need something in a hurry, then we do have expedited shipping and rush options for some items.

For more (and specific) details about production times and rush orders, visit our full Shipping and Production Information page.

2. What's this I hear about free shipping?

You heard correctly! All domestic US orders include free ground shipping! It's as simple as that, no small print.

The Small Print: No, it's just common sense. Free shipping does not apply to rush orders or to orders from outside the US (read those first two sentences again).

For more (and specific) details about production times and rush orders, visit our full Shipping and Production Information page.

3. How will my ring be sent to me? By ninja? Please say yes.

We use a range of carriers to get your items to your doorstep. Most of the time we ship by Priority Mail through the US Postal Service, or via ground transport through FedEx or UPS. Once your item's on its way to you, we'll send you tracking and delivery information.

Due to different lead times and shipping zones, we do not allow customers to choose their shipping carrier. Don't worry, we'll do it what it takes to make delivery as efficient and painless as possible.

As for the ninja part, it is entirely possible that the person delivering your order is secretly a ninja. You never know, they could be.

For more (and specific) details about production times and rush orders, visit our full Shipping and Production Information page.

4. I need my ring NOW (or soon)! What can I do?

Rush orders are available on some items for a fee. We can also upgrade your shipping in many cases. If you think you'll need either of these options, please contact customer service.

Note: As we're fond of saying, our items are built by hand and are not mass produced. This means that even with a rush your ring could still take a week or more to manufacture -- and that's not including shipping.

For more (and specific) details about production times and rush orders, visit our full Shipping and Production Information page.

5. Do you ship to customers outside of the United States?

We do! We regularly send shipments to Canada, the UK, Australia, the Lost Continent of Atlantis (please don't list that as your shipping address), and other countries around the world. All international orders are subject to a $25 shipping charge and are not eligible for free shipping promotions.

We do all of our international orders through the US Postal Service, UPS or Fed Ex , and we will provide you with tracking information once your order is sent. Your items will need to clear the Customs Office of your country before being delivered to you by your regional mail carrier.

Carbon Fiber Ring Questions:

1. I wish to resize my Carbon Fiber Ring. Can you make it so?

Short answer: No, 100% Carbon Fiber Rings cannot be resized. However, we offer one free size exchange within 30 days.

If you are having problems with the size of your ring, we ask that you contact us ASAP so we can take care of the issue.

For more information about fitting and sizing your ring, please read our Ring Sizing Guide.

2. Are your Carbon Fiber Rings coated in epoxy or some kind of lacquer?

Nope. There is absolutely nothing applied to our 100% Carbon Fiber Rings. We sand 'em smooth then release 'em into the wild, and that's it. In our experience, going au naturale with these rings holds up better in the long run.

3. I just spent the last six hours shoulder deep in an engine. How should I clean off my Carbon Fiber Ring?

Water and soap. Just like momma taught you.

Titanium Ring Questions:

1. My Titanium Ring doesn't seem to fit right. Can I get it resized?

Some of the time we can upsize a Titanium Ring by a half size. But due to the styles and designs this is very limited to what can be sized up without having to make a new ring. Whhen a new ring has to be made then a 20% fee will be required for a size exchange and this is for life of the ring. However, we cannot downsize Titanium Rings. The titanium's just too strong. Physical laws would be broken and reality itself would crumble.

However, we offer one one size exchange for you at 20% of the purchase price. Since a new ring has to be made this will only cover some of the labor and materials to get a second ring complete. If you are having problems with the size of your ring, we ask that you contact us ASAP so we can take care of the issue.

For more information about fitting and sizing your ring, please read our Ring Sizing Guide.

2. I heard/dreamt that Titanium Rings can't be cut off in an emergency. Is this true?

We sort of wish they'd do a Mythbusters episode about this one, except it would be kind of boring because the answer is a simple yes!

Titanium Rings can be removed with the same standard jewelry cutters used by doctors, hospitals, EMTs, and jewelers. Don't believe everything you dream about.

3. Somebody told me titanium never scratches. Should I test the theory?

If you want to mess up your ring, sure, test the theory. No, the power of titanium comes from the fact that it has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of almost any metal. That means it's scratch-resistant, not invincible.

Yeah, Titanium Rings can wear and tear during the long march of time, and they can be scratched. But what we love about titanium is it outlasts and outshines almost all other types of jewelry.

Treat your ring right, take good care of it, and it will look great for a lifetime!

4. My skin is a temple. Will titanium irritate it like other, lesser metals?

Go with titanium and your skin will thank you! Titanium is bio-inert and hypoallergenic. Allergic reactions and skin irritation due to contact with titanium are extremely rare.

PS: Our lines of Black Zirconium Rings and Cobalt Chrome Rings are hypoallergenic too!

5. What's the best way to clean my Titanium Ring and keep it ready for action?

Titanium has never been one to shrink from a bath. Just use some mild soap and warm water.

For a more "thorough" cleaning, you can take your ring to a jeweler and have it polished. We also offer a refinishing service for many of our rings. Please contact customer care for more details.
